Social Media Trends for 2025

The words 'social media trends in 2025' on a blue background next to a blog icon

The New Year is almost upon us, so now is the perfect time to see what trends will be big in the world of social media in 2025.

Remember that it's SOCIAL media

Social media was designed to be just that - social! So why not bring the fun back into your online content? Not every post has to be an ad promoting your products or services. Show what you get up to behind-the-scenes or on a day off; let your audience really get to know you.

Cultivating your connections

Regardless of whether you are B2B or B2C, you are still marketing to people, so it is important to work on cultivating your network. Having a lot of connections or followers is great, but it doesn't mean anything if you do not cultivate relationships with those people and businesses. You want to forge connections with your audiences, so they remember you and that when they have a need for your services (or they know someone who does!), you are the business that immediately comes to mind.

Authenticity

This is definitely a buzzword that seems to have been used a lot in recent months, but that's because it's true! Potential clients and customers want to buy from, or work with, businesses that they feel they know. Being authentic online sounds like a really obvious thing that people should be doing online, but I can admit that even I have not been completely myself over the last year since starting Crescent. Whether it's fear of not being accepted as you are or questioning whether you do know what you're doing, so you 'put on a brave face', being authentic is key. It's ok to say you don't know the answer to something, or that you got something wrong, and showing that authentic and candid self online will likely make you more endearing and relatable to your audience. (Also, no one knows everything; you're only human!)

Video content

With the above statement in mind, video is going to continue increasing in popularity, and now is a great time to embrace this and start creating video content. They don't have to be long videos, or even feature you directly; it could be an over-the-shoulder video, showing what do you behind-the-scenes, or footage of your products with a voiceover. If you are camera-shy, there are plenty of ways to create videos without having your face featured in all of them!

Employee Generated Content (EGC)

So many companies started doing this in 2024 but I think it's going to be even bigger in 2025. Unfortunately, I'm a one-woman-band, so this doesn't really apply to me! But if you do have a team of people working with/for you, then getting them involved with your digital marketing could be a very successful way of increasing engagement, and potentially sales, online.

The use of AI

I couldn't finish without mentioning AI, could I? The use of AI has grown rapidly in the past few years, and it felt very prominent in 2024. I've experimented with it a bit, but I think that it's going to continue increasing in 2025, in both popularity and in terms of what it can produce. Personally, I think it still feels kind of fake; it's usually very obvious when someone is using AI-produced content, from the layout to typical phrases it generates. However, I am interested in seeing how it develops over time - although I'm definitely not worried about my job!

So, they are my top trends to look out for next year. What do you think? Have I missed anything? Get in touch to let me know.
