Blog Post Header - Top 10 Types of Social Media Posts

It can sometimes be difficult to keep coming up with new ideas for your social media posts; there are only so many posts you can do showcasing your services to try to entice people to hire you (which is important, and you definitely should do, but don't over-sell).

With that in mind, here are 10 of the best ideas and themes for you to gain inspiration from and hopefully utilise across your social media platforms...

1) Did you know?

'Did you know?' posts are are great way to share a snippet of information about your industry, how you work or maybe even something you've only just learnt yourself. They are also a great way to encourage your audience to interact with you and comment on your posts.

2) Quotes

Inspirational or professional quotes from professionals in your industry are a popular way to reach new audiences, especially when coupled with hashtags such as #quote and #inspirationalquote which make them easier to find on social media search bars.

3) Memes

Memes are a light-hearted and entertaining way to engage with your audience, especially if you are using trending topics and events. Just ensure you credit the owners/creators of the images and original memes where possible, especially when using images from big events, such as The Oscars.

4) Polls/Surveys

Asking your audience a direct question is one of the best ways to encourage engagement with you on social media; from something simple such as 'Should I do a Live about XYZ topic?' to something more detailed such asking for topic ideas they would like you to cover in your blog. Just make sure that you respond to each person who comments, as this will encourage them to comment again in the future and make them feel acknowledged and appreciated.

5) Testimonials

Testimonials are absolutely essential for you to get future work; potential clients want to hear about other successful work you have completed and people you have worked with, so this feedback is perfect to share on social media.

6) Statistics

Expand your clients' knowledge and educate them with facts and statistics about the industry, and remember to include the source for the statistics you use (this will make you look more credible and trustworthy).

7) Blog Posts

Writing regular blog posts is not only good for your website ranking and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), it also creates great content for you to share on social media which will then direct your audience to your website.

8) Competitions

A surefire way to encourage engagement on your social media accounts is to share a competition; if the incentive is good enough then your reach with a competition-themed post could be much higher than your normal reach.

9) Infographics

With infographic posts, you share a visual display of information in a way that is easy for the audience to digest and process. These can be a useful way of catching your audience's attention, and then encouraging them to click on the post to find out more information.

10) Behind-the-scenes

Social media is so popular because it is meant to be real (apart from the excessive use of filters on some platforms!); real people and real businesses. And audiences love to see what happens behind-the-scenes at a business, what the real business owners/staff are actually like; it encourages the audience to feel like they actually know the people behind-the-scenes and so are more likely to trust them and potentially buy from them/use their services.

And, of course, don't forget to use different formats for posts, including static images, reels and short-form videos!

What do you think? What other posts do you find useful or beneficial for your business? Let me know.
